Crossmolina Community Council CLG has welcomed a major step forward in long-awaited plans to renovate the pier area at Lough Conn, after securing funding from the 2025 Oweninny Wind Farm Phase 2 Community Benefit Fund.
The funding has enabled the community group to progress the project to the design stage, with proposed redevelopment plans for the pier at Gortnor Abbey in Crossmolina now completed.
Specific details of the proposed plans include:
Pier and Amenity Upgrades: Transforming the lakeside space into a welcoming, highly functional recreational area.
Facilities: Specific renovations to the pier's changing rooms to better support water activities and tourism. Public Realm: Improvements designed to make the North Mayo pier a major amenity for both locals and visitors and the upgrade is expected to significantly enhance access, safety and overall usability of the area.
